Data Transmission mode

In the case of data transfer from computer to computer, the flow of data is called data transmission mode.
The data transfer mode can be divided into three parts based on the direction of data flow. E.g.

  • Simplex
  • Half-Duplex
  • Full-Duplex
Simplex mode
The mode or practice of sending data on one side only is called the simplex mode. In this mode only data can be sent from A to B. But data from B to A cannot be transmitted. In other words, it is possible to receive or send data in this system. The one who receives the first data cannot send the first data and the one who sends the first data cannot receive the first data. Examples ড radio, TV.

Half-duplex mode
This system has a system for sending data in both directions but it is not possible to send data in both directions at the same time. Any primacy can only receive or transmit data at the same time. But no primacy can receive and transmit data at the same time. In this system, when A sends data, B can only receive, not send. B will be able to send data only after the process of sending A is completed. Similarly, B can only receive data during the data transmission process. Example - walkie talkie.

Full-duplex mode
In this system it is possible to send data to both sides at the same time. Any primary need can send data while receiving data or sending data while receiving data. When A sends data to B, Khao can send data to A. Examples - telephone, mobile.

Co-axial cable

Co-acrylic cable is made of conductive and non-conductive materials. A solid copper wire that passes through the center of the co-acrylic cable. They contain non-conductive material in the middle to cover the center conductor wire and separate it from the external conductor.

Advantages of Co-axial pair cable
It can be used in analog and digital data transmission.
Its price is lower than fiber optic.
Data can be transmitted over a relatively long distance.
Disadvantages of co-acrylic cable:
Twisted pair cable is more expensive than expected.
Difficult to connect to different network devices.
Data transfer speed is slower than fiber optic.

Twisted Pair Cable

A twisted pair cable consists of four or eight separate copper wires, each wrapped in its own sheath. Each pair of wires is twisted or twisted with each other. All the twisted wires are again wrapped together in another coating. This cable is used for transmitting analog and digital signals. Such as in the telephone line.

There are two types of twisted pair cable. E.g .:

  • Unshielded Twisted Pair
  • Shielded Twisted Pair or STP
Advantages of twisted pair cable:
It's cheap
Installation is easy.
Disadvantages of twisted pair cable:
Usually used to send data over a distance of more than 100 meters.
Data transfer speed is low.

Structure of Fiber Optic Cable

Optical fiber is a special type of cable or wire through which light signals flow instead of electric signals. The light signal is transmitted through this cable using the full reflection of light. Fiber optical cable consists of different refractory die-electric transparent materials.
Fiber optic cable consists of three parts.

Core: The material inside the cable to carry the light signal is called the core. The diameter of this core is 8 to 100 microns.
Cladding: The layer just outside the core that reflects the light emitted from the core and sends it back to the core is called cladding.
Jacket:  A jacket is a layer of non- conductive material just above the cable.

Features of fiber optic cable:

  • Fiber optic fiber cable transmits light signals instead of electric signals.
  • Its data transfer speed is almost equal to the speed of light.
  • This cable can transmit data at gigabyte ranges or higher.
  • Fiber optic cable is widely used as the backbone of the network.

Advantages of fiber optic cable:

Fiber optic cable data transmission speed is much higher.
This is small in cable size.
Fiber optic cable weighs much less.
The energy loss of this cable is less.
Fiber optic cable is free from magnetic effects.
Data exchange is not interrupted by heat, pressure, etc.
Its use makes it easy to protect privacy and security in storing data.

Disadvantages of fiber optic cable
Fiber optic cable cannot be bent too much. So this cable cannot be used where the cable needs to be bent more.
This cable is quite expensive.
Skilled and technically savvy manpower is required to install and maintain these cables.
